Spring 2027
Courses
I teach Creative Writing in Howard University's undergraduate English Department. Take a look at the course descriptions below for information about my upcoming offerings.

ENGL 139-01
Creative Writing: Nonfiction II
An intermediate course that builds on the foundations learned at the introductory level and delves into specific aspects of contemporary craft through deeper focused reading and writing. This course centers one of creative nonfiction's most popular and growing forms: memoir. Through intense study, our goal will be to learn how to utilize such craft elements as character, structure, research, and reporting to tell personal stories of societal significance and to give voice to the voiceless. Students will compose and workshop their own memoir pieces, expanding their knowledge of craft, composition, consistent writing practices, constructive criticism, and revision in order to become effective contemporary creative nonfiction writers.
ENGL 295-02
Creative Writing Workshop
An advanced course that develops the student’s creative writing abilities through interrogation and practice of craft elements in a multi-genre workshop setting. Portfolio submission required. Prerequisite: Completion of ENGL 127 with "C" or higher. Required for English Majors with Creative Writing concentration; Satisfies an English Major/Minor elective.
